‘Justine’s Fund’ dinner pays tribute to Auburn teen, benefits those who fought on her behalf

The fourth annual “Justine’s Fund” dinner will be from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Gold Country Fairgrounds, 1273 High St. in Auburn. The dinner is held in memory of Justine Vanderschoot, who was killed by her ex-boyfriend and his friend. She was 17 years old when her remains were found in a shallow grave east of Auburn in September 2003. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime, Placer County Sheriff’s Department and the Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. Tickets are $30 and are available at the door. The evening will feature a chicken and tri-tip dinner, live music and dancing, no-host bar, raffle and silent auction.
