‘Urinetown’ a real stunner

“Urinetown” (really uncomfortable emphasis, discomfort fades after the first few scenes) is the best of years of plays at Placer High School. All the actors are so good, you are never trying to “help them” in your mind. And what nurtured all that exceptional talent coming from the Foresthill actors? A live orchestra? Amazing. The sets are wonderfully inspired: minimal and let the audience use imagination – the reason we go to plays! Staging is (I’m running out of superlatives) ... how do you show someone jumping off a tall building on a stage and make it believable? The play does and has many more surprises like this. The choreography by Emma and Chris Farrell, veteran actors on this stage when they were high school age, is new, fresh, inspired and beautiful. The costumes by Emma and her mother, Sharon Mansfield, are authentic, detailed and intriguing. Thanks to all who gave this to our community. Betty Jensen, Auburn
