Flames erupted at a Foresthill house today, causing heavy fire and smoke damage.

The fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. inside a house on Red Rock Drive, about 12 miles east of Auburn and just off Foresthill Road's McKeon Ponderosa Way exit.

Foresthill Fire authorities said the fire was full involved in living quarters by the time firefighters arrived. At least one adult was known to have been inside the single-story home as the fire broke out and was able to get out uninjured.

The fire was brought under control, with about half the structure sustaining heavy damage from flames and the rest of the house and contents damaged by smoke, fire officials said.

Cause of the fire had yet to be determined 5 p.m.
