Lady Eagles defense throttles Rocklin

Del Oro holds Thunder to single digit scoring in every quarter

Del Oro’s Lady Eagles basketball team improved to 2-1 in Sierra Foothill League action on Wednesday night with a 40-25 decision over visiting Rocklin.

The Lady Eagles, 14-3 overall on the season, led 12-2 after a quarter and never let the Thunder back into the game thereafter. Del Oro’s advantage at halftime was 22-8 as the Lady Eagles held Rocklin to single digit scoring in every quarter.

Madison Parry’s 10 points and eight from Ty Maranan paced the Del Oro offense. Grace Moore, Christina Huckaby and Juliette Caughey all chipped in with four points each.

Del Oro will visit Woodcreek Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. game that is being played in prelude to the Del Oro-Woodcreek boys game at 8 p.m.

In other SFL girls play on Wednesday,  Folsom defeated Granite Bay, 47-40, and Oak Ridge topped Nevada Union, 47-33.
