Suddjian, Mora pace snowboard field

The California-Nevada Ski and Snowboard Federation’s second slalom snowboard races of the season were held Monday at Alpine Meadows with a pair of Colfax High racers setting the pace.

On the boys side, Colfax’s Tyler Suddjian’s two-run total time of 1 minute, 16.25 seconds earned him the first-place nod. The Falcons placed five of their racers in the top 15 to take first-place team honors edging Truckee and Davis.

Other Colfax boys placing high included Ryan Donovan (third, 1:20.46), David Martinez (11th, 1:28.74); Nathan Franscella (12th, 1:29.78) and Trace Williams (14th, 1:31.07).

Placer’s boys racers were led by Ethan Vaughan (fourth, 1:20.79) and Connor Braica (15th, 1:31.76).

Colfax’s Faith Mora placed first in the girls competition as her two-run total time was 1:31.50. The Falcons also saw good efforts from Chole Qualls (seventh, 1:46.88) and Lauren Conway (23rd, 2:28.77)

Placer’s girls were led by Kayla Sipherd (sixth, 1:46.18), Sophia Nunez (10th, 1:48.55) and Jenenne Chipman (11th, 1:49.05).

North Tahoe won the girls division. Next week the CNISSF’s race will be on Tuesday, with giant slalom competition at Boreal Ridge.


Late Golden Eagle registration

Late sign-ups for this season’s Golden Eagle Pony Baseball league ends on Jan. 17. A $25 late fee will occur for late registration. Baseball divisions offered this season include 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U.
