Lady Falcons shackle Center, 58-30
Continuing their sizzling start to the 2017-18 season, the Colfax Lady Falcons’ basketball team stayed on the win trail Wednesday night with a 58-30 Pioneer Valley League victory at Center.
Using a swarming defense as their catalyst, the Lady Falcons limited the Cougars to just two first half field goals on their way to building a 23-11 halftime lead. From there, after the two teams played even in the third canto, Colfax blew the game open with a 21-5 fourth quarter explosion.
For the Lady Falcons, the win improved the team’s PVL record to 2-0 and upped their overall season mark to 17-1.
This season’s start by the Lady Falcons is the best at Colfax since the 1996-97 team started that year going 20-2.
Coach Jim Ryan’s Lady Falcons eventually went 30-5 before falling in the CIF Northern California Div. IV semi-finals to Campolindo.
Colfax was led Wednesday evening by the three-pronged offensive spark of Grace Bliss with 18 points, Annaliese Ballowe’s 15 points and 14 from Caleigh McClenahan.
McClenahan also grabbed 12 rebounds while Bliss snared 10 boards, added three assists and collected a pair of blocks.
Also scoring for Colfax were Natalie Lundberg with five points, Aliya McCord with three, Jazzy Owens with two and Kendall Rice with one.
Colfax hosts Lincoln Friday night at 7 p.m.
Colfax JVs 32 Center 18 – The Lady Falcon JVs won their second straight PVL game and improved to 15-3 with the win at Center. Emily Cerna sparked the win with 18 points while Ellie Brost added nine.
