A rollover at Interstate 80 and the Meadow Vista offramp north of Auburn left this truck damaged but upright.

The crash took place during a ferocious storm that rolled through the Auburn area today, bringing thunder, lightning and rain. The vibration from one clap of thunder was loud enough to set off car alarms in Downtown Auburn and the ensuing rain pounded the city and outlying areas, causing flooding in areas where stormdrains had not been cleared.

A tree downed by lightning struck a car on Barton Road in the Loomis area. Downed power lines were reported in the Wise Road area near Auburn, causing a small fire.

The National Weather Service was forecasting flash flooding through 7 p.m. today. On the near horizon are strong winds Saturday night and Sunday, with gusts over 40 mph possible.
