Auburn has hired a new police chief.

A Facebook post on the Auburn Police Department site made the announcement today, showing a photo of officers flanking new Chief Ryan Kinnan.

Kinnan comes to Auburn from Citrus Heights, where he served as a lieutenant.

A member of the Citrus Heights Police Department since 2006, Kinnan has worked in special operations and as a watch commander, as well as investigations.

He succeeds former chief John Ruffcorn, who retired this summer.
