A body was discovered outside an Auburn business on Wednesday and authorities are looking into the cause of death.

The body was found on private property in the 100-block of Oakwood Drive, between High Street and Lincoln Way at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The cause of death was still under investigation Friday but authorities do not believe the death was suspicious.

“At this point, the death is not believed to be criminal in nature,” Auburn Police Lt. Mike Garlock said.

The body was seen from the street at about 7:30 p.m. Auburn Police and the Placer County Coroner’s Office were at the scene until at least 9 p.m.

Garlock declined to identify the deceased. He did say that the death was not being treated as a suicide and that the person was not believed to be a transient. The person is believed to have died at the location, he said, adding that the coroner’s office is working to determine cause of death.
