Financially crippled Sears is closing its Auburn Kmart in March, according to media reports.

CNBC broke the news today that 80 Sears and Kmart stores will be shuttered.

The move comes as the retailer attempts to find a buyer to keep open its dwindling stock of stores.

Closures will be from California to New York, with Auburn’s 38-year-old Rock Creek Plaza store on Bell Road near Highway 49 joining a roster of four other locations in California set to shut down.

Also on the list, according to CNBC, are Kmart stores in Stockton, Apple Valley, Burbank and Santa Maria.

The Auburn store opened with the new shopping plaza in October 1980 and had survived previous rounds of closures. Kmart owner Sears filed for bankruptcy in mid-October and said it would close 142 of its 700 surviving stores. Forty more stores were tagged for shutdown in November.

According to CHBC, Sears told employees that liquidation sales would start in mid-January.
