Facts in the recent letter “Politics destroys friendships” (Reader Input, Sept. 14) were completely wrong.
In the 1972 presidential election, (Richard) Nixon won with 47,168,000 votes to (George) McGovern’s 29,173,000; 60 percent to 37 percent.
Nixon did have 520 electoral votes to McGovern’s 17. McGovern did not have four times as many popular votes as Nixon.
