LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors have filed murder charges against two people who allegedly led Pasadena police on a brief chase Christmas Day that ended in a crash, killing a woman and an 11-year-old boy.
Darrell Williams and Brittany Washington, who are both alleged to be gang members, were charged Friday. If convicted, they each face up to life in prison.
Authorities say Williams was driving an SUV with Washington and two other passengers when he failed to stop for police. Williams sped away and the SUV slammed into a van filled with five people. Tracey Ongtan of Glendale and 11-year-old Kendrick Ng of Daly City were killed, and three others were injured.
Prosecutors declined to charge the two other passengers riding in the SUV.
