A winter holiday DUI campaign by local law enforcement netted 34 arrests in Placer County.

The arrests were made during a period of high police saturation between Dec. 14 and Dec. 27. The 34 arrests were down one from 35 arrests during the same campaign and time frame in 2011, according to Auburn Police Officer Richard Blanco in a press release issued Friday.

During the DUI crackdown, officers from seven county law enforcement agencies made the arrests, Blanco said.

There will be additional saturation over the New Year’s weekend. In addition to county agencies, the California Highway Patrol will have all available officers patrolling during a maximum enforcement period beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 28 and lasting until midnight Jan. 1.

In addition to regular patrols by all agencies, there will be DUI/driver’s license checkpoints, multi-agency DUI task force operations and roving DUI patrols, Blanco said.

Drivers are encouraged to report a suspected drunk driver by calling 911.
