Reader input: A step forward to save water

-A +A

As a proud member of the ranching community, I want to be sure we are leaving our ranch and community in a good place and on solid footing for our children and our children’s children.
In order to maintain productive ranch land we must have a reliable source of water to grow feed for our livestock.
Despite the recent blessing of rains that have blanketed our region, we still have a long, long way to go before we recover from this devastating drought.
Mother Nature has proven to all of us that we must be prepared and take important preventive measures to protect our local agriculture, jobs and environment.
The Nevada Irrigation District’s Centennial Reservoir Project strikes that ideal balance — increased water storage for both Placer and Nevada County residents and a sustainable supply for our family farms and ranches.
It’s a positive, forward-thinking project that respects our majestic surroundings and gives us certainty and hope for a brighter tomorrow. That’s a legacy we should all be proud to support.
