GOLD RUN — Caltrans will close of both the eastbound and westbound Gold Run State Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) on Interstate 80 approximately seven miles east of Colfax.

Both rest areas are scheduled to be closed May 9 to Sept. 30 to bring water delivery and waste water treatment systems into compliance with current state requirements. Construction will begin this month on a new system, similar to those in other SRRA locations, which will eliminate costs associated with septic tank systems and improve the potable water delivery system.

During construction, Caltrans advises motorists to access the east and westbound Donner Summit SRRAs located 36 miles east of the Gold Run rest areas.
