Library gears up its summer program for Placer familiesBy: Amie Toepfer
Summer + library = learning fun!
It’s that time of year again when the library starts gearing up for our summer program. We are excited to announce the theme for 2018: “Let’s Go: Summer @ Your Library!” Again this summer the library will focus on summer learning, with interactive logs, programs, activities and quality incentives sure to be a hit for all ages.
Placer County Library launches its Summer @ Your Library program on June 1 (June 15 for Tahoe libraries). During the next two months, the library will host a range of free programs and activities for children, teens, and adults to encourage and support lifelong learning. And back by popular demand are our Golden Tickets!
We are very excited to be offering Golden Tickets to our finishers again this year. The Golden Tickets give our school-age participants and their families a chance to come to special after-hours events held in their honor at various library locations. This year we have pulled out all the stops and these events are guaranteed to be unlike anything our finishers have ever seen. I’ll just say that we will have some very special guests that people are going to love to meet.
“Last year was our first year hosting Golden Ticket events and it was wonderful to see how Placer County Library users traveled around to our different location to attend the Golden Ticket events,” said Mary George, director of library services. “I am thrilled to see these events being offered again this year and know that they will be better than ever. In fact, I really think this year’s prizes are the best we have ever offered. We can’t wait to start giving them out to our finishers.”
Families can pick up reading logs, event calendars, and bookmarks at any Placer County Library. They can also find a full listing of events on our webpage: placer.ca.gov/departments/library/events
We’ve got something for everyone: science, games, crafts, magic, music, movies, animal shows and even ukulele classes. Not to mention all the really fun pop-up activities that are always happening inside the library. There won’t be a dull moment. This year’s Summer @ Your Library is sure to delight, enrich and entertain. We can’t wait to see you there.
