John and Sharon Blodger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year with a much-anticipated train trip across Canada and then on to New York
The couple attended Placer High School and began dating while at Sierra College.
John, a lifelong resident of the area, is the son of Andrew Blodger, a well-known skier from the 1930s, and Birgitt Blodger. He spent his career as a land surveyor and supervisor with California State Parks and later as a consultant for the Attorney General’s Office.
Sharon is the daughter of the late Richard Moyer and the still very active Charlotte Moyer, 99, who owned Grandma’s Attic in Old Town Auburn.
Residents of Meadow Vista for 45 years, the couple has spent many years working to maintain their rural community by volunteering with Meadow Vista organizations, including the fire department, water district, Municipal Advisory Council, trails, library and the county museum.
They have two children, Scott Blodger and Paula Bianco (Sean), who also live in Meadow Vista.
