With the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section implementing new start dates for high school football in 2018, area prep teams are scurrying around in the month of June to complete their respective summer workouts.
With a forthcoming “dead period” for football — where no balls or equipment may be used — kicking in from July 1 to July 22, teams are staying busy this month with passing leagues and tournaments.
In this past week’s action, Placer is shown here battling Granite Bay as part of the Sierra College Tuesday-Thursday Passing League. Also, Colfax, which hosted Vista del Lago last Thursday, is shown in action at Oak Ridge last Tuesday.
Official football practices for area teams begin on July 23 with first games set for Aug. 17.
