Monte Verde Estates HOA conducted their annual Firewise Training Day Event on June 30 in Foresthill.

This event is centered on “eco-friendly” weed reduction by a 1,000-plus  herd of sheep and goats. The animals are owned by Steve Gregory of Gregory Livestock in Lincoln. The herd is growing weekly as newborn lambs and kids are born.

There was an excellent turn out of residents, neighbors and local contractors for the Firewise event.

The day began with opening remarks by Don Wolfe, MVE HOA president, followed by a presentation by Tim Gunn who explained the benefits of his roof sprinkler system.

Mike Whittle, resident and Firewise program chairman, spoke about the excellent support and growth of the MVE Firewise program in the community.

“Most of the residents have embraced the program and reduced the fire danger in the neighborhood,” Whittle said. “One of the many positive outcomes is increased options for home insurance for many residents.”

The event was also attended by several residents from the Foresthill Church Street/Walters Way Firewise Community.

Residents and guests enjoyed food, drinks and ice cream provided by the HOA residents Rosie Martin Carranza, Rich Purdum and Bob Venegas.
