Loud bang, quick fix on Union Pacific train in Auburn
By: Gus Thomson, Reporter/ColumnistThe crash from what a Union Pacific spokesman said was caused by a mechanical issue between two rail cars was loud enough to wake up at least one Auburnite in the Downtown area. this morning.
There was no derailment but the freight train was stopped for the crew to investigate and then call for mechanics to remedy the situation, railroad spokesman Justin Jacobs said.
The train was stopped at about 4 a.m. It was restarted after the mechanical issue was addressed, Jacobs said. Regular rail operations resumed this morning, he said.
