Sierra College football hosting 2014 'Meet The Wolverines' SaturdayBy: Special to the Journal
Amid high expectations, the 2014 Sierra College football season kicks off with the annual “Meet the Wolverines” controlled scrimmage and fan-fest Saturday at Homer “Buzz" Ostrom Stadium.
Second-year coach Ben Noonan is slated to run his team through a full-pad intersquad scrimmage at 11 a.m., with fans getting a look at the explosive Sierra offense and defensive coordinator Ed Eaton’s highly regarded defense. Immediately following the two-hour scrimmage, fans will be allowed on the field to “Meet the Wolverines,” Noonan and his coaching staff for autographs and pictures.
The Wolverines are members of the newly formed NorCal Conference. Their 2014 home games include the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game against Fresno City College Sept. 13 and the Rocklin Youth Football Day on Sept. 27 against Foothill College. The Homecoming Classic is Oct. 18 against cross-town rival Sacramento City College and the Fan Appreciation Game is Nov. 1 against neighborhood rival American River College. The regular season concludes Nov. 16 with the Sophomore Celebration/Veteran’s Classic against archrival Feather River College.
Parking is free at the lot off Sierra College Blvd., just to the north of the stadium. Admission is free. Sierra College’s Rocklin campus is at 5000 Rocklin Road, Rocklin. Information about the new Wolverine Cub Club for kids will be available at the stadium.
