Alcohol, driving make tragic mix

Re: “Weekend sees DUI increases,” Journal, Nov. 29: I think it’s OK to have an occasional alcoholic beverage, but not before you drive. Many people step into a car without caring or thinking about drinking an alcoholic beverage. They often end up killing themselves or some innocent person. During Thanksgiving, I know that lots of people drink over the holidays. I am sad to see that over 1,400 people made a poor choice in life to drink and drive but I’m glad that the police arrested them before they killed someone. Due to this “stepped up” police effort over this past holiday, I’m glad to hear that fatalities have gone down. Drunk drivers, think before you drink and drive! Miranda Raynor, student, Auburn
