There’s something else a-brewin’ in Auburn sure to please beer enthusiasts and movie buffs alike. The Auburn Alehouse in Old Town Auburn releases its Phenomen-Ale today, a special brew created to help celebrate the 13th anniversary of the filming of “Phenomenon,” just in time for tonight’s movie reunion party. “When I heard about the reunion, I thought, ‘Why not?’” said Brian Ford, Auburn Alehouse brew master. “Our building was an integral part of that movie. It just made a lot of sense, being the old Shanghai (Restaurant and Bar) and being a brewery.” The English-style pub ale is quite drinkable and has a lower alcohol content than other beers, Ford said. “It’s not real hoppy and it’s not real malty,” he said. The Auburn Alehouse is located at 289 Washington St. in Auburn. The “Phenomenon” movie reunion party and outdoor screening will be held 6-9 p.m. today in Old Town Auburn. Tony Genaro, who played “Tito” in the movie will be on site to sign autographs along with some of the more prominent “extras” in the movie. A bronze plaque will also be dedicated.
