Allow praise for bin Laden raid success

Aha, another conspiracy theory. One Navy Seal who monitored the raid on Osama (bin Laden)’s compound in real time says it definitely was bin Laden. That Seal, William McRaven, was a three-star admiral at the time and head of the Joint Special Operations Command who monitored the live feed as the action unfolded. It was this trained Navy Seal that said, “I want to confirm we have a call of ‘Geronimo EKIA’.” Under President Obama’s watch there were over 2,400 commando raids over 12 months, with 13 different operations by “special mission units” on the same night as the bin Laden raid. If all of the above had happened exactly the same under Bush’s watch, many right-wingers would be hailing Bush as a hero and would there then be a conspiracy theory? Not on your life! Admiral McRaven deservedly gives President Bush some credit, saying he “made some very, very tough decisions.” And for President Obama he says about the decision-making for the raid, “was really everything the American public would expect from their national leadership. The president was at all times presidential. I would contend he was the smartest guy in the room. He had leadership skills we’d expect from a guy who had 35 years in the military.” Please, give some credit where credit is due regardless of political affiliation. Kent Campbell, Auburn
