Forest Lake Christian 52, Sacramento Waldorf 45 — The Falcons improved to 11-4 in winning their Central Valley California League opener Thursday against the league’s defending champions. “It feels good, I’m excited,” coach Jason Camacho said of the victory. Chase Augustino led Forest Lake Christian with 13 points and Brandon Camacho (12 points) and Luke Jordan (11) also made significant contributions. Forest Lake plays Woodland Christian Friday at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in anther CVCL match at 8 p.m. “It’s open this year,” Camacho said of the league. “We got Woodland Christian and Victory Christian to compete with as well.”
Bear River 47, River City 45 — Justin Beskeen scored a bucket with eight seconds to go and give his Bruins (12-3) the lead for good on Thursday. Beskeen scored 30 on the night and Andrew Hajewski added seven for Bear River, which plays at Inderkum Saturday. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
