Placer girls suffer first loss

Brandon Camacho had 24 points, nine rebounds and four steals, leading his Forest Lake Christian boys basketball team to a 105-99 run-and-gun victory over Valley Christian Friday night at the Marysville Tournament.

Chase Augustino added 21 points and five steals and Jesse Poppin chipped in with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons (5-0), who advanced to Saturday’s championship round of the tournament against Marysville at 5 p.m.

Girls basketball

Pleasant Valley 58, Placer 56 — The Lady Hillmen suffered their first loss of the season in double overtime Friday night at the Harlan Carter Tournament. Placer (6-1) had a good outing from Ariana Jensen, who scored 15 points on five 3-pointers. Placer plays Shasta Saturday at 3:30 p.m. for third place.

Bear River 76, Live Oak 25 — Savannah Welz had 25 points and Kaitlyn Reina added 12 for the victorious Bruins (6-0). Michelle Whiting and Cindy Solomon both scored nine points for Bear River, which plays in the tournament’s championship game Saturday.
