Hannah Gregg shot a two-over par 38 Thursday afternoon at the Ridge to help her Placer High School girls golf team earn a 279-319 Pioneer Valley League victory over Center.
Madi Holm (48), Kacey Egusa (64) and Erin Corcoran (64) also contributed to the victory for the Lady Hillmen (4-4, 3-0 PVL), who return to the links Monday at the first PVL 18-hole meet in Sacramento at Bartley Cavanaugh.
Bear River 279, Lincoln 282 — Jessica Pisenti shot a 44 on the par-35 Lake of the Pines course Thursday to lead the Bruins (2-2 PVL) to victory. Pisenti was followed by Cassie Smith (47), Shelby Lampson (59), Delaney Kaper (64) and Olivia Naves (65). Bear River is also headed to the PVL 18-hole meet Monday.
Placer 3, Ponderosa 1 — Lauren Collins had 10 kills and 14 digs and Becky Matthew added eights kills as the Lady Hillmen won 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23 Thursday night. Maddie Graham recorded seven kills, Kirstin Schauble tallied 21 assists and Clare McInerney had 14 assists for Placer (6-1), which plays in a Davis tournament Saturday.
Del Oro 3, Whitney 0 — Morgan Lees had 13 kills and two aces and Stephanie Solich added 11 kills, an ace and 20 digs for the Golden Eagles (14-4), who won at home Thursday 25-23, 26-24, 25-9. Alex Lolland (five kills), Amy Heyn (32 assists) and Sabrina Burri (20 digs) also contributed to the victory for Del Oro, which starts Sierra Foothill League play Wednesday at Woodcreek.
Bear River 3, Nevada Union 1— Sara Schell had 17 kills and Kirsten Pereira chipped in with 10 kills, as the Bruins recorded a 25-15, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory Thursday. Teryn Rath added eight kills and Amanda Clark had five kills for Bear River (15-8), which starts PVL play next Thursday at Center.
Placer frosh 24, Yuba City 20 — The Hillmen trailed 14-12 at halftime but got the go-ahead touchdown with 1:52 remaining and made a huge defensive stand to win at home Thursday.

Del Oro 12, Rocklin 2 — Keenan Finney scored six goals as the Golden Eagles improved to 2-2 Thursday. Del Oro is playing at a Woodcreek tournament Friday and Saturday.
Rocklin 5, Del Oro 4 — The Golden Eagles fell to 5-2, 1-1 Sierra Foothill League. They got singles victories from Kylee Webb (2-6, 7-6, 6-2), Macey Bailey (7-5, 6-2), Ashley Brening (5-7, 6-3, 7-6) and doubles Emily Friesen and Sarah Silva (6-4, 6-4). Del Oro returns to the court Tuesday to host Nevada Union.
Bear River at PVL No. 1 — Mary Nattrass won the varsity girls race in 20 minutes, six seconds. The Lady Bruins also had great races from Sierra Mitchell (fifth overall, 21:35) and Kimmy Pugel (sixth, 21:41). Overall Bear River finished second in the varsity girls. The frosh/soph race was a surprise, as the Lady Bruins tied the Lady Hillman for first with strong performances by Taylor Autrey, who finished the 2.15-mile course in second place with a time of 17:07. Olivia Kirks finishing third in 17:10. The Bear River varsity boys were excited to see their top runner back in action recovering from injury. Alex Coffman raced his first meet of the season and did not disappoint, placing fifth overall and covering the 3.15-mile course in a time of 17:02. The Bruins also had an impressive performance from their freshman newcomer Dakota Cornejo, who finished 17th in a time of 19:28. Bear River is already looking forward to the rematch at PVL No. 2 at Colfax High School on Oct. 10th.
