'Art of Real Food' cookbook debuts

It’s official. “The Art of Real Food” cookbook was formally released at the April 28 Auburn Famers Market.

Written by Auburn residents Joanne Neft and Laura Kenny, the book is a collection of more than 250 recipes to cook year-round, using seasonal produce available from Placer County farmers. The book is a follow-up to the duo’s “Placer County Real Food” cookbook, published about two years ago.

The Foothill Farmers’ Market  Association, which puts on the Auburn market, works in collaboration with PlacerGROWN, an organization now backed by Placer County dedicated to enhance and promote the preservation of agriculture and local  working landscapes.  Josh Huntsinger, agriculture commissioner, said the book is the perfect way to keep track of exactly what’s in season in Placer County.
