Artists sought to highlight historic Auburn bridge

-A +A

The Mountain Quarries Railroad Bridge will be 100 years old this March, and the Auburn Arts Commission is looking for local painters, sketchers and photographers to help celebrate the centennial.

Amateur and professional artists are invited to enter a juried art competition with original artwork that features the bridge. Paintings, drawings, pastels, photography and other two-dimensional work will be considered for the show.

Winning entries will hang at the Auburn City Hall Gallery March 19 through June 6. Cash prizes will be awarded at the artists’ reception March 23. The artwork will be featured on the April 12 Auburn Art Walk.

To enter the competition, artwork must be hand-delivered to the Rose Room in Auburn City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 17. An entry fee of $15 (for up to two entries) will be collected.

All artwork must be framed and properly wired for hanging. Artists should label the back of their work with their name, address, phone number, email address, title of the work, medium and price. Unaccepted artwork must be picked up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on March 18.
