ASA soccer camp to benefit Haiti Saturday

Auburn Soccer Academy’s Under-18 Blaze competitive soccer team will coach a camp Saturday, May 8, at Placer High to help raise money for orphans in Haiti Saturday at Placer High. The camp, Placer athlete Stephanie Bonitata’s senior project, is for girls and boys ages 6 to 14 to learn the game or acquire new skills. Players should bring cleats, shin guards, water, an age-appropriate soccer ball and a lunch. The camp, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will provide snacks. Cost is $25 per child. Summer bowling leagues have openings Summer bowling leagues will be starting this month at Auburn’s Foothills Bowl. The summer leagues run for 14 weeks. Teams bowling in the jubilee leagues are eligible for a tournament in Reno Oct. 2-3 and the tournament fees are paid by the league. There are currently openings in the Monday Mixed Jubilee league for full teams – four person teams with a combination of men and women on each team. There are also openings for individual men and women. There will be an organizational meeting today at Foothills Bowl at 6:30 p.m. League play begins May 17. Mayor’s Golf Classic set for May 6 The Ridge Golf Course will host the inaugural Mayor’s Golf Classic on May 6 at 11 a.m. The event will raise funds for the Seniors First program, a Placer County non-profit that serves meals to seniors under the Meals on Wheels program. The $99 player fee includes green fees, cart, lunch and a reception/awards ceremony after the tournament.
