Auburn churches invite community to Christmas celebrations

Auburn First Assembly of God: The Christmas Choir presents “Mary did you Know” at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at 4200 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn. Call (530) 889-3904.

At Bayside Auburn Church, Senior Pastor Gene Maynard teaches “What Christmas Love Does” at 9:15 and 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. A Christmas experience takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14, when visitors can walk through candlelit stations contemplating the first Christmas miracle. Bethlehem Lutheran Church hosts its 22nd annual free Community Christmas Dinner from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 25 at 1279 High St., Auburn. Meals can be delivered to the homebound by calling (530) 885-4515.

Elevation Church presents a candlelight service from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. The Christmas series, “The Reason,” continues Dec. 11 with “For Celebrating” and Dec. 18 with “For Continuing.” Services are held at 9 and 10:45 a.m. at 609 Auburn-Folsom Road, Auburn.

Foothill Center for Spiritual Living holds the “Return of the Light” Solstice celebration during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, Dec. 18. Attendees light candles together. From 7-8 p.m. Christmas Eve, share in caroling, candle lighting, fellowship and cider. Please bring a plate of cookies to share. Loomis Basin Congregational United Church of Christ holds a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. The 10 a.m. Christmas service, “Tis the Season” is presented with Imani Community United Church of Christ. New Faith United Church of Christ presents a Christmas Eve celebration, “The Gifts We Bring,” with special music, multimedia, drama and dance at 5 p.m. On Christmas Day there will be a service at 10 a.m., followed by sharing carols with the residents of Auburn Ravine Terrace at 11 a.m. The church is at 540 Wall St., Auburn. Spiritualist Chapel of the Pines offers a candle lighting service and potluck luncheon Sunday, Dec. 18. The service at 10 a.m. at 457 Grass Valley Highway No. 7, Auburn, is a remembrance of loved ones. The luncheon is directly after the service. People bring a side dish or dessert to share. Unity of Auburn holds its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. at 1212 High St., Auburn. A New Year’s Eve Burning Bowl service is set for 7 p.m. This is a time to relinquish anything that burdens your mind and identify things in your life that you wish to occur in the coming year.
