The Auburn City Council will meet on Monday and hear a second round of draft performance-based budgets, this time from the fire department.

The council heard its first draft performance-based budget from the Department of Public Works and on Monday it will be the fire department's turn. The performance-based budget process breaks down how departments use the money allotted to them every year and what they accomplish with it.

At the last meeting, council members called the process more "transparent."

The council will also hold a public hearing on Auburn's sign ordinance.

On Tuesday there will also be a ceremony to dedicate the new Sept. 11 memorial at 10 a.m. at Auburn City Hall.

Next Friday, a public notice will be released regarding the open seat left on the Auburn Planning Commission by Bob Snyder. The Auburn City Council will fill the position and applications must be submitted to the Auburn city clerk at 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603 by Oct. 15.

Applications can be found online at or at the city clerk's office.
