This week Auburn Journal Newsmakers caught up with Sgt. 1st Class Shane E. Nunes of the United States Army to talk about how local recruiting efforts are going in the face of active-duty reductions in the Army.
Nunes talks about how the recruiting numbers are up in the region and the support the U.S. Army gets from the community. Other points of discussion include the types of prospective recruits that are coming through the door, how the economy is influencing others’ decision to join and how the local recruiting office is seeing an increase in better qualified candidates who are looking to serve their county while at the same time earning money to complete their education.
