Auburn juniors rebound in Rocklin

The Auburn Little League Junior All-Stars rebounded from a District 11, Area 1 Tournament-opening loss with a 4-2 win over Lincoln Wednesday night in Rocklin.
Auburn was facing elimination after falling to Rocklin 8-7 in a Monday night thriller.
Against Lincoln, Tyler Gums pitched brilliantly to get the win while Cody Gregerson closed the game with one scoreless inning of relief. Cole Blackwell led Auburn at the plate while Casey “Chip” Mitchell also swung the bat well.
In the loss to Rocklin, Eric Taylor, Gums and Blackwell led the offense while Luke Knoble had a hit before leaving the game with an injury.
Auburn will face Tri-City or Rocklin on Friday at 6 p.m. at Tri-City Field in Rocklin.
Minor League
The Auburn All-Stars opened the District 11, Area 1 Tournament at Beggs Field with a hard-fought 5-2 loss to Tri-City Wednesday night.
Trailing 5-1 in the fifth inning, Auburn rallied, but managed just one run and left the bases loaded. Jonathan Callahan knocked in one run with a walk while Hugh Hanson had the other RBI for the host team.
Auburn will play in an elimination game today at 5 p.m. at Beggs Field in Auburn.
