Dealership provides $500, equipment The Auburn Little League hit a home run this month when Gold Rush Chevrolet donated $500 to the league along with new equipment. Gold Rush Chevrolet presented Auburn Little League with 10 equipment bags, 10 baseball buckets, 150 Chevy Youth Baseball-branded T-shirts and two dugout buddies that hold bats, balls, gloves and helmets. “We are extremely grateful to Gold Rush Chevrolet and Stuart (Snyder) for thinking of Auburn Little League and for making this happen,” said Steve Callahan, president of the Auburn Little League. “For us, it was a no-brainer. It was an opportunity that we jumped on. We are very thankful and appreciative.” With the donation of $500, the Auburn dealership also gave the Auburn Little League 2,000 raffle tickets that can be sold for a fundraiser with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the league. The fundraiser is part of a Chevrolet vehicle giveaway that offers entrants the opportunity to win a new Chevrolet Cruze or Equinox. The winner of the contest will be announced in August. The donations and fundraising opportunities came through the national Chevy Youth Baseball program, which partners local dealers with area youth baseball leagues. “It (the donation from Gold Rush Chevrolet) came about when we started to look for a way to help get a new scoreboard at James Field,” Callahan said. “Our vice president, Daryl Henry, started looking around for a fundraiser or sponsors to help out. One of our managers, Dave Lawicka, who is a friend of the folks over at Gold Rush Chevrolet, asked them for help.” The donations will not only help with getting a new scoreboard, but the funds will help with field upgrades, and with scholarships for those who wish to play, but cannot afford it. “We want to get as many kids playing baseball and make sure our fields and our services to the families are what we want them to be,” Callahan said. “This donation is going to go a long way.” ~ Andrew DiLuccia
