KAHI 950 AM radio on-air personality Dave Rosenthal reacts after inspecting the hole where workers accidentally cut into a power cable Thursday, forcing the Auburn radio station temporarily off the air. The power cut came at about 11:30 a.m. and silenced the KAHI Oakland A’s-New York Yankees broadcast. The city of Auburn and contractor Hansen Brothers worked with PG&E to restore power. Businesses and non-profits located with KAHI inside the State Theater building on Lincoln Way in Downtown Auburn scrambled to install generators. The station was back on the air by 7 p.m. The cable was cut during excavation work to install new sidewalks.
