An Auburn man is still in jail after allegedly threatening to kill his 18-year-old wife. Tyler William Carl Monsen, 24, was arrested Friday after his wife contacted Officer Stan Hamelin at the Auburn Police Department, according to a press release issued Wednesday evening. The woman told police she met with Monsen April 5 after he allegedly threatened to kill her and their 2-year-old daughter if she didn’t meet with him, said Sgt. Michael Garlock. The woman said after she arrived at Monsen’s home he held a box cutter to her throat and again threatened to kill her and their daughter if she testified against him in court, Garlock said. Garlock said the woman received a small cut on the side of her neck. Monsen had been arrested February 23 for three felony charges in which his wife was also the alleged victim, Garlock said. Monsen was booked into Placer County Jail for six felony charges including assault with a deadly weapon, spousal battery and false imprisonment, according to Garlock. As of Wednesday afternoon Monsen was still in custody with a $150,000 bail. ~Staff report
