Auburn man arrested for drug sales

An ongoing undercover effort by the Placer County Special Investigations Unit led to the Wednesday arrest of an Auburn man on charges of possession, transportation and sales of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon. Kyle James Bird, 22, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. According to an Auburn Police Department press release, investigators observed Bird conduct three hand-to-hand sales to unknown subjects before selling Oxycontin to an undercover officer. The arrest took place in the 300 block of Elm Avenue, in Auburn’s Town Center parking lot. After Bird’s arrest, investigators reported they found him to be in possession of approximately 12 grams of cocaine with a street value of $600, 27 pills of Oxycontin with a street value of $1,350, drug paraphernalia and a dangerous weapon (dagger). Bird was booked into Placer County Jail.
