The Auburn Police Department has made an arrest in the arson fire case that took place at Skyridge School in September of 2012.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 of last year the Auburn Fire Department and police responded to the report of a fire at Skyridge School on Perkins Way in Auburn. It was determined at the time that the fire was caused by an intentional act of arson and two possible suspects were identified, according to a press release issued by police Tuesday morning.

The case has remained open as evidence was sent to a crime lab for analysis and on Monday, Feb. 25, a 14-year-old male juvenile was arrested by a school resource officer for allegedly intentionally setting the fire on Sept. 18, 2012.

After his arrest, the juvenile gave a confession detailing the events that lead to the fire at Skyridge. He was then booked into the Placer County Juvenile Hall for arson and other unrelated charges.
