A felon allegedly carrying a loaded, concealed handgun resisted arrest after police responded to a report of drug-related activity Friday at an apartment complex parking lot on the 200 block of Pine Street, according to the Auburn Police Department.

John Anderson, 33, of Rocklin, “was safely taken into custody” on a felony weapons possession charge, possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest, the press release said. Anderson met his $85,000 bail and was released from Placer County Jail on Saturday morning.

Police also arrested two Auburn women as they continued their investigation.

Debra Cavanagh, 28, had an outstanding warrant for abating a railroad fare and Windy Osborn, 36, was charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia, police said. Both women were released from Placer County Jail around 8:15 p.m. Friday with a promise to appear.

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies and Placer Special Investigations Unit detectives assisted with the arrests and investigation.
