Auburn Police seek armed robbery suspect

The Auburn Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly committed an armed robbery of a convenience store early Saturday morning.

At around 5:30 a.m. March 2 Auburn Police received a 911 call from a store clerk at Auburn Ravine Road and Mikkelsen Drive reporting he was robbed at gunpoint by a man who was described as being an adult white male, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a blue and grey knit poncho, black athletic pants, black and red gloves and a dark-colored mask disguising his face, according to a release issued by the department.

According to police, after brandishing a black pistol and demanding cash from the clerk, the suspect then fled on foot westbound on Auburn Ravine Road

The Auburn Police Department and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office made a sweep of the area to find the suspect but weren’t able to locate him. However, according to the release, law enforcement did find evidence related to the crime.
