The Auburn Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly committed an armed robbery of a convenience store early Saturday morning.

At around 5:30 a.m. March 2 Auburn Police received a 911 call from a store clerk at Auburn Ravine Road and Mikkelsen Drive reporting he was robbed at gunpoint by a man who was described as being an adult white male, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a blue and grey knit poncho, black athletic pants, black and red gloves and a dark-colored mask disguising his face, according to a release issued by the department.

The Auburn Police Department and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office made a sweep of the area to find the suspect but weren’t able to locate him. However, according to the release, law enforcement did find evidence related to the crime.

Auburn Police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect. They can call the Investigations Unit and speak with Detective Sgt. Dale Hutchins at (530) 823-4237, ext. 207.
