Auburn shares its abundance

I read with great interest the recent Auburn Journal article (April 15) about Jim Wesley’s experience in Haiti attempting to mitigate the disaster stress of orphans. It reminded me of the deep needs in that part of the world, and I appreciated the sobering reminder of Gloria Young’s article. I also want to thank the members of the Auburn community who helped with our Health Kits for Haiti project at Pioneer United Methodist Church last month. In addition to the funds raised to buy needed items, we had over 90 people pack 1,000 kits of basic necessities like combs, soap and toothbrushes in less than two hours! It is a wonderful community that cares about folks so far away, people we will probably never meet as Jim did, but still the experience can be transformational. Stephanie Snyder, Auburn
