Auburn stabbing suspect arrested
An Auburn man who allegedly stabbed someone at a local bar was arrested by the Auburn Police Department early Tuesday morning.
Thomas Spencer Askew, 37, of Auburn, was at a bar in Old Town Auburn around 12:23 a.m. Monday when he allegedly stabbed someone with a knife and then fled on foot, according to a press release issued Tuesday afternoon by the Auburn Police Department.
Askew was detained by a Placer County Sheriff's deputy after a perimeter was set up around Old Town by the sheriff's office, Auburn Police Department and the California Highway Patrol Air Operations. Askew was hiding near the bar where the incident took place and was taken into custody.
The weapon Askew used was recovered by officers and the victim was taken to an area hospital where he is in stable condition, according to the press release.
Askew was taken to the Placer County Jail with a bail set at $100,000.
