Auburn suspect arrested in robbery of three stores

An Auburn man tied to robberies of three area drug stores was arrested at his home Friday. Matthew Lynn Foster, 22, of Auburn, was taken into custody at his residence on the 1000 block of Live Oak Lane and booked into Placer County Jail on charges of attempted robbery and robbery. Foster is the prime suspect in a Sept. 26 attempted robbery at the Longs Drug Store on Elm Avenue in Auburn, according to Auburn Police Department Det. Sgt. Victor Pecoraro. The same day he allegedly committed armed robbery at a Raley’s supermarket in Loomis, officials report. Foster is also charged with committing another armed robbery Oct. 5 at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Roseville. The arrest was the result of a joint effort among the investigative units of the Auburn and Roseville police departments as well as that of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team served the search warrant and arrested Foster. Upon searching Foster’s home, investigators recovered evidence associated with the robberies. The investigation is ongoing. Foster remains in custody. Bail is set at $500,000. -Jenifer Gee
