The Auburn Gold Miners Trap Team, a group of kids grades 12 and under shooting for California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA), is hosting a BBQ and Fun Shoot Fundraiser on Sunday, April 14 at the Auburn Trap Club to help alleviate costs of ammunition, traveling to competitions, etc.

For $25, those interested get 50 clay targets (two rounds of 25) and a barbecue lunch. Ammunition is not included. Shooting begins at 9 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m.

The trap club is located at 11540 Lorenson Road.

The Gold Miners team is a youth development program that shoots trap for the state of California. They compete with several other teams as they travel all over state and Nevada.

The CYSSA Clay Target Program is a team-based program for boys and girls, giving them the opportunity to participate in a supervised, shooting sports program.

The program hopes to create teamwork, good sportsmanship, individual responsibility, self-discipline, positive academic progress and personal commitment.

The team is hosting the fundraiser due to the rising cost of ammunition and traveling to competition.

The pre-registration deadline is April 7. Space is limited to 100 shooters.

Trophies will be awarded and there will also be a gun raffle.
