Thank you for the insightful story about Bart Ruud (Journal, April 5). We were privileged to hear his riveting speech and see his photos at our recent annual International Interests Dinner, chaired by AAUW’s Mary Voyiazes. His mother was president in 1968-69 and twin sister Delana, is our current Membership VP. We learned of Bart’s service in Vietnam and his several trips back to “get over it.” He currently serves on the Board of Vinh Son Montgnard Orphanage in Kontum, Vietnam (www.FriendsofVSO.org). Clearly, his concern for “community” extends beyond Auburn in his effort to “make a difference in the lives of the children who are truly victims of circumstance.” Jeanene O’Brien, president, Auburn AAUW Auburn
