Allen Cassidy writes that destroying an area for economic increase is not the answer to our deeper social problems (Reader Input, Oct. 1). Allen, you are spot on! I know of no store, mom-and-pop-owned or big box that was built in the expectations of solving our deep-seated social problems. I hope we get a Costco, however a Wal-Mart will do fine. This coming from a resident since 1964 who is tired of creating such a large carbon footprint, and using up our gas reserves driving to Roseville for better selection, cheaper prices and great service.
