Auburn's High Street open again after Tuesday's tree safety concerns, wind

Auburn's High Street was open again Wednesday morning after safety concerns over a potentially unstable tree limb caused a partial closure Tuesday. High Street between Auburn Folsom Road and just past the Gold Country Fairgrounds entrance was shut down to traffic after a huge limb on a split oak fell into an apartment complex. The other limb was left leaning against a house. One man on the apartment's upper deck suffered a cut leg from falling limbs and a truck parked in the lot was crushed. Branches on the part of the tree still standing were trimmed. The limb came down during an afternoon when wind gusts were recorded by the National Weather Service at up to 24 mph in Auburn. - Gus Thomson
