Bakers renew vows for 50th anniversary

Robert Clifford Baker and Marilyn Joyce (Keith) Baker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2011. The celebration was held at the Applegate Civic Center and hosted by their three daughters and their husbands: Kathleen Baker, Karen Gisler (Matt) and Klaudia Chase (Chris). Over 100 family members and friends enjoyed the get-together and watched Bob and Marilyn renew their vows. Pastor Dennis O’Daniels, and his wife, Terri, of the Orange Cove Christian Center, officiated the ceremony. Marilyn’s childhood friend, Barbara Ellis, of Fresno, and John Pineau, of Meadow Vista, stood up with the couple. The couple was married, at the Presbyterian Church, in Stockton on July 8, 1961. They met while working at the Rhodes department store in Fresno. Bob worked in the men’s department and Marilyn was in the credit office. Bob and Marilyn moved to Placer County in November 1979, after living in Fresno, Eureka and Norwalk, CA for many years. Marilyn worked for the W.W. Henry Company, in Huntington Park, Lever Bros, Turner Metals, in Los Angeles and retired from Placer County Human Services after 18 years. Bob worked for Santa Fe R.R., in Fresno, North Western Pacific R.R., in Eureka and Alcoa Aluminum, in Vernon, CA. After moving to Meadow Vista in 1979 they owned the Meadow Vista Feed and Garden Store, in the early ’80s. Robert retired from Placer County, after 22 years, as a supervising custodian. The couple has 10 grandchildren: Kristel and Tawna Montague, of Gainesville, Texas; Brandie and Tahnee Hughes, of Modesto; Adam Baker, (fiancé, Rachel Nolan) of Lake Geneva, WI; Alaina Baker, (fiancé, Joseph Pickering,) of Greenwood, CA; Christopher and Joshua Gisler, of Modesto; Jacob Chase, of Hawaii (Navy); and Tanner Chase, of Ormond Beach, Florida. Four great grandchildren complete the family: Aiden Hughes, Olivia and Lily Montague and Emilee Pickering. Guests coming the farthest were: Chris Bollesen, of Huntington Beach, CA. and Ray and Yvonne Maxwell, of Reno.
