Barbecue raises funds for local groups

Residents can attend a barbecue Friday to benefit the community. The Rotary Club of Downtown Auburn is hosting The Spirit of Auburn Community Barbecue from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. The dinner includes chicken, tri-tip, salmon, ribs, beans, corn, salad, bread and dessert. Event highlights are scheduled to include raffle prizes, a silent auction and special activities for children. Proceeds from the barbecue will go toward the Auburn Community Garden, Auburn Symphony, Children’s Faire, local high school grad nights, Peace for Families, Placer County Arts, Project Auburn, Salvation Army, the Boys & Girls Club and more. Tickets for the event are $25 for adults and $10 for kids 13 years old and younger. A limited number of tickets can be purchased for $20 each, $5 off the regular price at the Auburn Journal offices, 1030 High St. in Auburn. Call 530-852-0205 for information.
